1. Chapter 1

Alika, the daughter of Niara and Cayman, is born. Jendal plots to seize Cayman's throne. Oruka foresees that King Cayman will be betrayed and that Batanga will fall into disgrace. Tonho tries to use his savings to reimburse Casemiro, who refuses to accept the money.

14. Chapter 14
Mundica demands that Mirinho take her to the ball. In Batanga, Soliman welcomes the Turkish doctor who will treat Omar. Tonho catches Mundica hiding the briefcase. Mundica returns the briefcase to Casemiro and snitches on Mirinho. Tonho confronts Mirinho. ‘Lúcia’ hits back at Virgínia’s taunts and prejudices. Accompanied by her mother and uncles, Lúcia (Alika) makes a stunning appearance at the ball, wearing Batanga jewelry.

15. Chapter 15
Virgínia demands that Alika (Lúcia) be thrown out of the dance; Alika reacts indignantly. Mirinho announces that she is his guest and asks her to dance. Virgínia is furious. Back at the sugar mill, Mundica laments not being able to attend the dance and dances with Ciço. Mirinho harasses Alika and grabs her by the arm. Tonho comes to Alika's defense. Kênia is distressed by Jendal's actions and believes she saw Dumi among the crowd. Belmira discovers that her father is a "cangaceiro". Alika declares her pride in Tonho's actions. Graça offers advice to Mirinho.

64. Chapter 64
Fortunato summons Diógenes, Casemiro, and Mirinho to the police station and announces that Fabrício is a con artist. Virgínia offers to model for Alika/Lúcia’s brand.
